Advertise your bookkeeping business in your college alumni magazine...likely for free!

So, I was flipping through my quarterly Baylor University Alumni Magazine and had a revelation. This is a place where I can advertise my business for free in almost no time at all.
In the back of the magazine is the “Class Notes” section. Truthfully, it isn’t typically very populated. I usually flip through to see if anyone has passed away or if anyone has had a baby. But there are often announcements of the professional nature.
So I followed the directions (see pic above) and took 5 minutes and wrote up a short blurb about my business and made sure it had my business website listed. I put a great family photo, but I could have gone with a head shot photo. I went with the family one because I think that there will be people who will actually remember me and that family photo will be of special interest to them because they will get more of a peak into my life. Hey, we all like to know a little about how that acquaintance from college turned out, right? I think it will make my submission stand out in people’s minds more.
Check out your college website or magazine next time you have a free 5 minutes and see if your school offers something similar.
Shoot, I wonder if I can convince my husband to write an update for his USNA class magazine and somehow throw me and my company in there. His magazine comes out monthly, so they are ALWAYS looking for content to include. Maybe I’ll take the time to write an update about our family for him and see if he’d be willing to submit it???? He is usually so supportive, so I bet he would do it!
