Are you completely new to the subject of accounting? OR are you an accountant who would like to know how you can take your accounting degree and spin it into your own business serving small businesses as a bookkeeper? Then you should check out CPA Academy.org for a huge library of online content fill in those knowledge gaps.
Now that you know this resource exists, I’ll toss up a few courses that caught my eye and tell you why I think they might be relevant.
Also, special note to CPAs: Since you are required to obtain CPE credits to keep your credential, why don’t you develop a plan to meet your CPE requirements by equipping yourself to get that first bookkeeping client?
This list is certainly not exhaustive. It is just what caught my eye in the 5 minutes I spent looking. Get in the course list and look around for yourself.
As I peaked through the right side-bar that lists the different course categories, my mind couldn’t help see some niches pop out. Finding a niche is important to keep in mind for side-hustlers. There is a tension in that you might only be wanting a few clients so you want to take who you can get. But if you can go a bit more slowly and develop a niche while only serving a handful of clients, your implied hour rate will be much higher than if you are all over the place and learning a little e-commerce and a little insurance and a little hair dresser and a little landscaper.
Check out these niches that I saw could be trained on in these free CPAAcademy.org resources. note: I’m not linking to them because I think the urls might change as these move from future webinars to archived webinars.
