I first heard about Halon Tax in the fall of 2019. A fellow bookkeeper told me he provided tax services to his clients, but he wasn’t the one that actually did the taxes. He signed up to be a partner with Halon Tax, and now his bookkeeping clients get seamless tax service.
I had to learn more!
I don’t do taxes and have no desire to start. But potential clients do ask if I “do taxes”, and I know I lost some prospects because I did not provide that service.
I signed up my newest client with them in December of 2019. I interviewed Halon Tax founder Christopher Ragain so that the rest of the Bookkeeping Side Hustle Community could partner with Halon Tax as you build your business.
Watch this interview for the full details. Read below for some of my main takeaways.
Main Take-Aways About Halon Tax
With our partner discount, our clients get their tax returns starting at $300 (monthly payments of $25). Their pricing is based on gross revenue. See their pricing here. Bookkeepers get 50% off.
Each monthly plan gives clients access to a CPA for all tax questions. We don’t have to say “let me investigate that tax issue.” We treat the Halon team like they are our tax department. And instead we should say “Let’s get you set up with Kevin (or whoever is assigned) from Halon to trouble shoot this one for us”.
Chris said Halon works extremely well for a certain type of client.
- Service-based industries.
- Less than 1 million in revenue.
- Less than 3 partners.
- Technology loving (or at least not technology averse).

I’m excited to partner with him more in 2020!
